POP-UP POLL: Invested in the Team – RESULTS

Team Time Can Be Valuable

Most of the respondents to a recent Women In Optometry Pop-up Poll said that they do invite staff to special events, such as team-building programs, retreats and education meetings. Forty-four percent of the respondents said that they do so at least once a year, and nearly 30 percent said they do so at least once a quarter. About 15 percent said that they do not invite staff to such events.

The majority of practice allow or encourage staff members to make suggestions for such events, with 81.5 percent saying yes and 18.5 percent saying that is not an option.

Local evenings out or just for fun events topped the list of most effective options at 40 percent, while professional, CE or association meetings was the second-most cited answer by 32 percent of respondents. Twenty-eight percent said that they liked to combine a local retreat with some team-building activities. Respondents could select more than one answer.

Sixty percent of the respondents said they were female ODs, and 26 percent said they were male ODs. The remaining respondents worked in the profession but are not ODs, they said.
