AOA Webinar to Feature Mom ODs

So, you want to start a new practice? Join the AOA Center for Independent Practice (CIP) in an upcoming webinar to hear what it takes to successfully launch an independent practice.
Moderated by AOA Past President Dr. Robert C. Layman who, himself, has opened several new practices over his career, the one-hour webinar features the inspiring story of three, young moms who launched their own independent practices two years ago. The webinar is geared toward doctors and optometry students, and will be hosted online in the AOA EyeLearn Professional Development Hub.
When: 9 p.m. ET, Thursday, Nov. 9

“There was a time in my life when I was told it ‘wasn’t a good time for me to be a partner because I had small children.’ When the time came to make a leap into the unknowns of a cold start and partnership, I think being a mom gave me the confidence to know I was capable of rolling with the punches and still being successful. Rarely will the timing be perfect and there will always be barriers to any endeavor, but this webinar will dive into the personal stories of digging deep, being strategic and taking those leaps of faith,” says Lauren Grillot, OD.

Dr. Eilerman

“The AOA has long been the voice of independent doctors and I’m thrilled to be a part of something bigger than myself that has the potential to help others succeed. Every journey is different and this webinar is the perfect combination of voices to guide interested optometrists and welcome students into the world of independence,” says Amanda Eilerman, OD.

Dr. O’Brien

“Doing anything for the first time is scary, but being a mom gave me this burst of confidence that I’m capable of so many amazing things. Barriers will always be there, but what if you’re tough enough to tackle them? You’ll never know unless you dig deep to find that confidence. Of course, maintaining that confidence is key, so this webinar really dives into how to be mentally tough and strategic,” says Kristin O’Brien, OD.
