College of Optometrist in Vision Development (COVD)

Ilana Gelfond-Polnariev, OD, FCOVD, has been elected as Chair the International Examination and Certification Board (IECB).

 

Centre for Ocular Research & Education (CORE)

Rosa Yang, OD, FAAO, was appointed as a clinical research associate. Dr. Yang’s cornea and contact lens residency at the University of Waterloo focused on managing patients who exhibited corneal ectasia and severe dry eye with specialty contact lenses, as well as myopia control therapies that included orthokeratology.

 

Valarie Jerome, OD, BSc, was among 100 multi-achieving female business owners, championed by Small Business Britain’s ƒ:Entrepreneur #ialso100 campaign, invited to attend a special International Women’s Day reception at the House of Lords.

 

Optometry Giving Sight

On April 11, 2022, Lois Schoenbrun, CAE (Ret.), FAAO, has been appointed interim executive director. She is also president of Schoenbrun Consulting, LLC, providing fund-raising, strategic planning, governance and executive coaching services to such other clients as the Sport and Social Industry Association, the World Council of Optometry and the World Optometric Foundation.

Sally Mina, OD, of Dallas, Texas;
and Lachionte’ Culpepper OD, MS, of Atlanta, Georgia, have been announced as recent Divas of the Week by Optometry Divas.
