The Polka-Dotted Penguin by Dr. Amy Moy

Dr. Moy

Amy Roan Moy, OD, FAAO, CPCO, was inspired to become a children’s book author by her seven-year-old daughter, who has Down Syndrome. Dr. Moy wanted to write a book about kindness and inclusion to help children to understand that differences are OK and, actually, pretty great. Her message is told through the story of Dottie in The Polka-Dotted Penguin, who starts her journey in the beginning of the story as a little polka-dotted egg that is different from all the other eggs.

In 2023, Dr. Moy released Dottie Meets Mully the Bully. Mully the bully is teasing Dottie the Polka-Dotted Penguin every day at school. She tries to ignore him, but that is not working. Together with her best friend Olivia, Dottie learns the power of friendship and the importance of standing up for yourself. In the process, she learns more about Mully and finds a way to stand firm and be kind.

Adults will enjoy reading along with their children and can use the conversation starters at the end of the book to start discussions about anti-bullying.

Find the books on Amazon via the linked titles above or get an autographed copy from her Etsy shop.
